Session 1 · 1 Timothy 1–5
Sound words, prayer, and ordered overseers.
- Paul charges Timothy to silence strange teaching, calls himself the foremost of sinners, and says Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.
- Prayers are to be made for all people and for kings, for there is one God and one mediator, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom.
- Overseers and deacons must be above reproach in house and character, and the church is the pillar and buttress of the truth.
- Some will depart from the faith, so Timothy is to train in godliness, not neglect his gift, and keep a close watch on his life and teaching.
- Widows are to be honored with discernment, elders who rule well are worthy of double honor, and sins and good works cannot stay hidden forever.
Session 2 · 1 Timothy 6
Godliness with contentment. Fight the good fight.
- Slaves are to honor masters so God's name is not reviled, and Timothy is to flee the love of money, fight the good fight, and guard the deposit.
