Wisdom at Gibeon and glory on Mount Moriah
- At Gibeon Solomon asks for wisdom to lead the people, and the Lord also grants wealth, while horses and chariots are gathered from Egypt.
- He asks Huram of Tyre for a craftsman and for cedar, confessing that heaven itself cannot contain the God for whom he builds.
- The house is founded on Mount Moriah, at the threshing floor where the Lord appeared to David, and the veil and the cherubim are set in place.
- The bronze altar, the sea, the lampstands, and the courts are finished, and Huram completes the work he was sent to do.
- The ark is brought in, holding only the two tablets, and the cloud fills the house so that the priests cannot stand to minister.
Session 2 · 2 Chronicles 6–10
Fire on the altar, a torn kingdom, and Sheba's visit
- Solomon prays toward heaven, asking God to hear Israel in defeat, drought, famine, war, exile, and to hear the foreigner who comes for the sake of the Name.
- Fire falls from heaven, the glory fills the house, and at night the Lord calls for humility, prayer, seeking, and turning.
- Solomon's other works prosper, Pharaoh's daughter does not live in the city of David, and the fleet brings gold from Ophir.
- The queen of Sheba tests Solomon with hard questions, sees the worship and the wealth, and blesses the Lord who set him on the throne.
- Solomon dies, and Rehoboam rejects the elders at Shechem, so Israel answers that they have no portion in David.
Session 3 · 2 Chronicles 11–15
Levites migrate, Shishak humbles a king, and Asa cries out
- Rehoboam fortifies Judah, and priests and Levites from all Israel come to Jerusalem because Jeroboam has cast them out of the priesthood.
- When Rehoboam is strong he abandons the law, Shishak of Egypt comes, and Shemaiah says they are abandoned because they abandoned the Lord.
- Abijah tells Jeroboam that Judah has not forsaken the Lord, the priests sound the trumpets, and God strikes the northern army.
- Asa removes foreign altars, cries to the Lord against Zerah the Ethiopian, and the Lord strikes that vast army before Asa and Judah.
- Azariah son of Oded calls Judah to seek the Lord, and Asa leads the people into a covenant, though the book still notes a limit.
Session 4 · 2 Chronicles 16–20
A hired ally, teachers of the law, and singers before the battle
- Asa sends temple silver to Ben-hadad for help against Baasha, imprisons the seer Hanani, and seeks physicians rather than the Lord when his feet are diseased.
- Jehoshaphat seeks the Lord, and priests, Levites, and officials teach the Book of the Law in the cities of Judah.
- He joins Ahab at Ramoth-gilead, Micaiah is struck for telling the truth, and the Lord delivers Jehoshaphat when he cries out.
- Jehu rebukes the alliance, and Jehoshaphat appoints judges and tells them they judge not for man but for the Lord.
- Moab and Ammon come up, Jahaziel says the battle is God's, and singers go out before the army giving thanks.
Session 5 · 2 Chronicles 21–25
A prophet's letter, a murdered son, and Edom's gods
- Jehoram kills his brothers, walks in Ahab's way, and receives a letter from Elijah announcing disease, invasion, and the loss of his sons.
- Ahaziah listens to Athaliah, is killed with the house of Ahab, and Athaliah sets out to destroy the royal seed of Judah.
- Jehoiada the priest hides Joash, crowns him in the temple, and binds the people to a covenant before Athaliah is put to death.
- After Jehoiada dies, Joash listens to the princes, and Zechariah, the priest's son, is stoned in the court of the Lord's house.
- Amaziah hires Israelite troops, is told to send them home, defeats Edom, and then bows to the gods of the people he conquered.
Session 6 · 2 Chronicles 26–30
A censer in a proud hand, shut doors, and a late Passover
- Uzziah prospers while he seeks the Lord, then enters the temple to burn incense, and leprosy breaks out on his forehead before the priests.
- Jotham orders his ways and does not intrude into the temple, though the people still act corruptly.
- Ahaz burns his sons, closes the doors of the house of the Lord, and sacrifices to the gods of Damascus because they seemed to have defeated him.
- Hezekiah opens the doors in the first month of his reign, the Levites cleanse the house, and song returns with the burnt offering.
- He invites all Israel to a Passover in the second month, and the Lord heals those who eat while unclean because they set their hearts to seek Him.
Session 7 · 2 Chronicles 31–35
Tithes, an angel in the camp, and a king who would not hear
- Hezekiah orders the tithes and the storehouses, and the priest reports that since the contributions began there has been enough and more.
- Sennacherib mocks the Lord, Hezekiah and Isaiah pray, and an angel cuts down the Assyrian camp so that the king returns in shame.
- Manasseh does worse than the nations, is taken to Babylon in chains, humbles himself, and is brought back to Jerusalem knowing that the Lord is God.
