Session 1 · Luke 1–5
The Spirit brings a Savior for Israel and for Adam's line.
- Luke writes an orderly account as Zechariah is silenced, Mary consents to bear the Son of the Most High, and joy breaks out over God's remembrance.
- Jesus is born in David's city, announced to shepherds, recognized by Simeon and Anna, and at twelve years old is found in His Father's house.
- John demands fruit worthy of repentance, Jesus is baptized as the Spirit descends, and the genealogy runs past Abraham all the way to Adam.
- The Spirit-led Son refuses the devil, announces release to captives at Nazareth, and is driven from His hometown before He heals in Capernaum.
- A night of empty nets ends in Peter's confession of sin, a leper is cleansed, a paralytic is forgiven, and Levi leaves the booth for a feast.
Session 2 · Luke 6–10
Mercy sits at the table, and the road turns toward Jerusalem.
- After a night of prayer Jesus chooses the Twelve, blesses the poor and the hungry, and commands love of enemies from a heart whose mouth speaks its treasure.
- He marvels at a centurion, raises a widow's only son, answers John's messengers with the Messiah's works, and forgives a woman whose love shows she knows her debt.
- The word falls on four soils, the storm obeys Him, Legion is sent away, and a bleeding woman and a dead girl both receive life from His presence.
- The Twelve are sent, five thousand are fed, Peter confesses the Christ, the mountain shows His glory, and Jesus sets His face toward Jerusalem.
- Seventy disciples return rejoicing that demons submit, a Samaritan proves to be a neighbor, and Mary chooses the one necessary thing at Jesus' feet.
Session 3 · Luke 11–15
Pray like children, repent, and rejoice when the lost are found.
- Jesus teaches His disciples to pray as children, warns that a divided kingdom cannot stand, and pronounces woes on those who love honor and neglect justice.
- He refuses to referee an inheritance, tells of a rich fool, bids the little flock not to fear, and says servants must be found watching.
- Unless His hearers repent they will perish, a bent woman is freed on the Sabbath, and Jerusalem's house is left as Jesus laments her refusal.
- At a Pharisee's table He heals on the Sabbath, tells guests to take the low seat, and says disciples must count the cost before they follow.
- Heaven rejoices over one sinner who repents, pictured as a found sheep, a found coin, and a father who runs to a son the elder brother will not welcome.
Session 4 · Luke 16–20
Wealth, worship, and a King who weeps over the city.
- A shrewd steward is told to act in light of the reckoning, and a rich man who ignored Lazarus at his gate finds the great reversal fixed after death.
- Jesus warns against causing little ones to stumble, cleanses ten lepers of whom only a Samaritan returns, and says the Son of Man's day will come suddenly.
- A persistent widow, a humble tax collector, children, and a rich ruler show how one enters the kingdom, and a blind beggar near Jericho will not be silenced.
- Zacchaeus restores what he stole and is called a son of Abraham, servants are judged by their use of the mina, and the King weeps over the city.
- His authority is challenged, the vineyard's heir is killed in the parable, and Jesus answers the tax, the resurrection, and David's Lord from the Scriptures.
Session 5 · Luke 21–24
The Scriptures are opened, the bread is broken, He ascends.
- A poor widow gives more than the rich, Jesus foretells the temple's fall and the coming of the Son of Man, and He commands watchfulness so that day does not close like a trap.
- At the Passover He gives the new covenant in His blood, the disciples dispute about greatness, He prays in agony, and Peter denies Him after the arrest.
- Pilate and Herod find no crime, the crowd chooses Barabbas, Jesus forgives His executioners and promises paradise to a dying criminal, and Joseph lays the body in a tomb.
- The women hear that He is risen, two disciples recognize Him in the breaking of bread at Emmaus, and the Lord opens the Scriptures, commissions witness, and ascends.
